Author Topic: New AMD PC Locking Up After BIOS Screen  (Read 1567 times)

Just bought a new Ryzen CPU and installed my main SSD with Windows 10 on it, and now it just locks up after showing the spinning dots for half a second. Not sure what to do other than reinstall Windows which I can't do since I can't exactly shovel another $100 for an operating system and can't get the current key I have. Does anyone have any idea what to do?

Reseat all the cables and cpu / gpu / ram and such

Reflash the bios.

wtf no do not do this there is nothing wrong with it

check and see if everything is seated properly. if it is, you may have to reinstall anyways

boot into windows safe mode my boy.

otherwise, mess about making a bootable windows media (can be done for free) and use it's repair tools

forget i should have mentioned to do this first

also if you do get it working you should probably try produkey to extract the windows key just in case so you can make a installation DVD/USB or something from sicromoft's website

fixed it by just formatting my ssd and installing windows again. got my win10 key with a piece of software. thanks everyone :^)

scratch that my product key doesn't want to work. Very odd but I've put in my product key I've used for a while now and Windows says it isnt valid.

did you buy the key?
when i built my new pc, i just used the retail product key from my old pc and put it in my new pc. im pretty sure i used some sort of command prompt thing to deregister the product key on my old pc before i put the key into my new pc tho.
maybe you can contact microsoft. i remember chatting with them and they told me that they could transfer a retail license of windows 10. thing is you already wiped your data so idk

it may be OEM specific, and in that case you WILL have to talk to microsoft
that or you entered it wrong or the software didn't get it properly

Ok I managed to fix the key problem. Just had to sign into my Microsoft account and do the activation troubleshooter and reactivate Windows on this PC. Thanks for the help everyone, I think I've gotten all the main problems with this system ironed out now.
