Author Topic: [NEWS] Diversity-Laden Spider-Man Movie Suffers Marvel’s Worst Second Weekend Pl  (Read 1167 times)

When will Marvel learn? Pandering to SJWs is not profitable. It alienates to core fanbase to appease SJWs who have no intention of buying your content anyways but want to monitor and make them "safe" for everyone. Who would have thought this would be profitable? lol

According to Forbes, the film went from earning a strong $117 million at the box office during its opening weekend to a mere $45.2 million last weekend – a 62.2% dropoff worse than any of the other Spider-Man films of years past.

According to IGN’s brown townysis (gleaned using numbers from Box Office Mojo), those figures place Spider-Man: Homecoming – which features a black Mary Jane as well as jokes about defeating white privilege and characters informing each other that the politically correct phrase is “Native American,” not “Indian” – roughly two percentage points behind Marvel’s next worse second weekend dropoff; the 2011 Captain America movie.

superhero comics are dead and thankfully so now that they are being overrun with political memes

"Diversity-Laden" is an outstanding piece of linguistic artwork

We going to complain about this like "unauthorized" now? lol

Majority of the movie isn't white. They even put in kids that normally wouldn't be in the average american school.

when you complain about a company for NOT whitewashing their cast
someone get one of those ascended brain memes

movie was good.
(not so much of a spoiler but a safe hint.)
will say the casts race did help atsurprising the viewer when the movies big plot twist happens.

basically when you watch the movie you'll see why it's not 'white washed' and it has nothing to do with race appropriation or some stupid stuff like that

Anyone noticing a pattern? It's like if you don't like the new ghostbusters you're loveist. If you don't want mary jane to be black, you're tribal

did you see the movie yet?

here's an actual spoiler so i can show you what I'm talking about

you find out near the ending of the movie that peter Parker's 'black love interest' is actually the daughter of the movies main villain (white guy). it's supposed to be a complete surprise and not something that can easily be connected from earlier in the movie. after all she's black and he's white

The movie was actually really damn good

Making Mary Jane black was incredibly forced. Mary Jane is a natural red head, black people aren't born with red hair.

That's probably the dumbest way to handle something.

Why not just have the villain black? Or is it not progressive to have a black villain?

it's getting easier and easier to call this out, my guy
