Author Topic: YouTube initiating new policies that could be disastrous for just about everyone  (Read 6095 times)

Not all liberals are bad, however the majority of modern liberalism is authoritarian, pro-censorship, like using power to get their way and pretty much the opposite of what liberals were IMO.
the majority of modern liberalism and modern conservatism and modern anything is normal. either way 'liberalism' is not the reason why youtube is having its ad money revoked by the companies that pay it

>online terrorism
>controversial religious or supremacist ideology

It sounds pretty much like they're bending the rules a bit to crack down on Jihadi propagandists on Youtube. I can't think of anything else in the modern world that can simultaneously be classified as 'online terrorism' and 'controversial religious ideology'.

I'm skeptical as to how far they might bend those rules. Especially seeing as how this is mostly being handled by an algorithm that scans for keywords.
Will it have context sensitivity? Can and will they be able to change the parameters?

It feels like the Net Neutrality argument claiming it's a good thing used to fight against something thats bad when it really means signing the internet away.
I dont trust these kinds of shifts anymore.

we must create a new internet, and rid ourselves of this one. we will be a phoenix born anew.

I'm actually very interested in that question from a machine-learning perspective. I wonder if they're just going to throw videos at a long list of keywords, or whether they have some sort of machine learning algorithm that's getting supervised-trained with thousands of videos of legitimate terrorist propaganda.

More than likely, it's the former, since predictive accuracy isn't that big of a deal when the only reason they're doing this is for PR.

Im hopping for the latter as the former will do nothing but falsely strike more innocent accounts.
You think Google could afford to create context sensitive AI. Perhaps this is the precursor and Youtube accounts just need to take the hits first?

The problem is the not being allowed to appeal the decisions of a BOT imo. How many innocent accounts are gonna get sniped because of some forgety AI decision?

and now we care about how many innocent x will die when y happens

Oh you ARE part of this conversation. You KNOW whats going on.

guys its not the loving apocalypse christ

in fact id wager this "program" has been going on ever since al quaeda posted videos of executions and propaganda online. im also willing to bet that the guy in the op just didnt get a response immediately and took it as no-reason takedown
