I know Beachbum considers Rick and Morty an unfunny show which only appeals to the lowest denominators, but I've never shoved a stick ten feet up my ass and personally enjoy the show as a very casual viewer (though season 3 has been subpar). Recently, Adult Swim has been airing new episodes on their website via stream, and it's been pretty great. It's way more convienent than trying to catch it live or setting my TV to record.
Anyway, without announcement they read the script aloud instead of airing the show today, and a bunch of fans are pissed. It's ridiculous to expect every show to be streamed, but the way they handled it was extremely poor and they ended up looking like starfishs. I personally thought it was hilarious before I realized that they are going to read the entire script and not even air the episode. I thought it was going to be a joke before the real episode began, but it just kept going. Once I had watched a few minutes and realized that it was going to be cable-only I had A: had the first third of the ep spoiled for me and B: not recorded the ep to watch the way they intended through my TV. They then proceeded to call the stream viewers 'freeloading starfishs' despite the fact that they run in-stream ads as well as several on the page beside the video.
I'm already paying for their channel. I'm already watching ads and tuning in on the site where you've been uploading content--I assume hoping for people to watch? I stayed up until after I would've normally slept only to be the subject of an unfunny joke which not only spoils an episode but prevents me from watching it on TV or Internet. Then they call me an starfish. I dunno, the whole thing left a pretty bad taste in my mouth and I probably won't be tuning into their shows very much after this. It's hard to appreciate their work after they treat fans so rudely.
