wouldn't a phone camera kind of work?

i've heard that without a solar filter on your camera, it's going to essentially forget it up

Apparently you can make a pinhole in a cardboard box and have it project onto a piece of paper

don't use a telescope, unless you have a lens specifically for it

a welding visor/goggles will work

pretty sure thats only if you're using huge lenses to magnify the picture

I hear tell it kind of works, but only for a short while

like without anything you can glance at the sun
with that you can look at the sun
with something proper you can kind of stare at the sun

a welding visor/goggles will work
auto-darkening ones won't work though

if pointing your phone at the sun could break it i think there'd be a lot more people talking about it.

alternative idea: point it at the sun anyway. nothing will go wrong. you will not get permanent eye damage.

instead of blasting eyes try blasting eye
