Author Topic: I'm having serious problems with my dorm room (things get complicated)  (Read 11550 times)

It also wouldn't fix the commute to classes and I'd still be working by desk light past midnight with two sleeping roommates who are probably getting annoyed with me at this point that I'm not in bed when they are.
So do your work at the library if it's gonna be a late night? Also what's wrong with the commute to class?

the library's only open until 2:00 AM and I have a lot of work to do

plus my commute (one-way) to class is 15 minutes, so say I forgot something, that's half the class period gone because I had to go back to my dorm to get it
the way to fix that is to be on top of everything which is hard to do when you're sleep deprived

do you not have like 100 different lounges on campus to work in

I don't have a laptop, I have this desktop and that's it

gee I sure love it when my roommate plays cheesy pop romance songs non-stop and then leaves the loving room with the songs still playing on the wireless speaker

that's a normal commute time
it takes me 5 minutes walking, but most people I know take 10-15 minutes
and that's from the closest housing available, dorms is a 10 minute walk for me, 15-20 minutes for others
(this is on a small campus of like 4 blocks diameter)

I don't have a laptop, I have this desktop and that's it
if there's a common room in the dorm you can just move your desktop out there while you work

Yeah all my commutes to class are generally 10-20 minutes so that's not worth complaining about. kinda sucks that you are anchored to the desktop, I can understand the frustration there. maybe get a bunch of removable storage so you can do work on library computers?

you're kidding right

dude just work at the library lol. theres no way you have enough so much work as a college freshman that you need to be up past 2am every night working on it

no
it's not too difficult to move a desktop, especially if you have access to a rolly chair
when I was in a dorm we used to help somebody move his desktop back and forth, he was at the far end of the hallway from the common room
then again we also had a round table with ~6 laptops (+ assorted bits like mice and binders) on it when GTA V came out, and an 11th was sitting in the middle of the table
was a pain when he had to go get something or go to the bathroom that night

this is my personal desktop, I'm not going to move it into the common room every single time I want to work

which majors?
normally if it's engineering then colleges are a bit quicker at trying to reduce impacts to studying

just saying it is a viable option, if you're not willing to do it then don't do it
it was their personal desktop too
