tbh i think we should just try and ask them what it is they're hoping to gain
they already said what their goal was during the six party talks- they want to boost their defenses

further than that -- about the threats and the japan flyover. how do they think it's putting them in a better place?

japan flyover was a smart trajectory. north japan has a huge quantity of high-flying plane routes traveling to russia and china, same in south japan to malaysia. the trajectory they fired over most likely has mostly low flying planes that are just traveling from parts of japan to other parts of japan. in that case the missile would be well above airspace and would fly safely without any risk of hitting planes or the ground.

when you're a landlocked peninsula trying to test long-range missiles, there's not much room for 45 degree trajectories. either way they should've informed japan and gotten some sort of agreement to do so

By threatening to nuke everyone in their vicinity - including the US, yeah these are people we want to have nukes "just to defend themselves"
you can forget off with this neutrality nonsense or talks of peace, they've already been warned and threatened constantly that if they continue to provoke us and our allies they will be reigned in. What nuclear deal would you make with NK? You really trust Kim to only produce uranium for energy? Sanctions don't work, neutrality isn't an option because they're threatening our allies. This isn't one of those world policing things. This is a threat to both our security and the well-being of our allies.

yeah what you described is a world policy thing.

Sanctions don't work
they do. once again, they don't work how you personally want them to. a sanction isn't going to stop them from entirely developing nuclear weapons cold turkey. it still works, which is probably why they aren't producing 3 nukes every day

either way they should've informed japan and gotten some sort of agreement to do so

which im sure they would have gotten

we shouldve nuked china during the korean war

Alright dude you go ahead and have this limp richard idea of diplomacy when military action is necessary, you're obviously sticking to your dysfunctional guns on this one. I mean you're seriously rationalizing them firing a missile over japan

I think that's the big distinction here

all you appeasement forgets are saying that this is MAD tactics but they're literally firing missiles into the general vicinity of allies, unprovoked
I think that constitutes wiping them the forget off the face of the earth

i think its wrong too but wiping them the forget off the face of the earth is horrible. russia did the same thing at one point, so did the us

also think of all the innocent civilians who had literally no part of that missile flight. you'll kill them over a missile that didn't even harm anybody?

what are you even adding to the conversation by suggesting that we want to kill civilians? no one here is thinking like that and you know it

Korea can litterally try all they want. If they want to start stuff, it's going to be a war on Korea against the whole world.

Are you trolling Phantos? You're the only forgettard I've seen somehow trying to justify NK's actions.

if i were in north korea's shoes i'd probably be doing the same thing. they don't have any other choice. they've got stuff all in this world except for their nuke card and they can't afford to give it up, they just have to keep going until people take them seriously, and that's what they've done. i don't think it's going to put them in any kind of position to make demands, but i can certainly understand the rationale behind their actions. can't say i predict it ending well for them in any situation where they continue moving forward with this strategy though. the best course of action for them and the world would be to back down from the nukes and walk away, but that would probably mean dissolving their government and starting over, which obvs their government isn't going to want to do. i just hope this stuff gets resolved without nukes flying

no one here is thinking like that and you know it

are you trolling? not once did i ever defend north korea and here you are making up lies on the fly insert-name-here style
