god these look so good
:)

i personally like the camera more in this than in like league/red alert/ any typical rts game. its more of a shooter than an rts, but its a shooter with strategy elements

battlemix was just rng: the game, wasn't too much fun when all you have is luck. tournaments was raw skill

Holy stuff this is impressive.
Well done on every front.

What i would like to see, but do not expect (so pretty much an idea/suggestion) is to have an inside to walk around in and interact with the ship.
How i imagine this to work with what you have currently is that there is a playing field and very, very far away, or at least hidden from the strategic/pilot view is a generated build from the inside of the ship (different ships have different insides).
Here people can enter the pilot seat to enter pilot mode as it were, changing to the view you have right now and controlling the ship.
There would also be camera bricks or something similar for those that don't want to be stuck in the build, looking only at the inside.
All the interaction like energy distribution shooting the guns and the like would be done via bricks inside the build.
Damage to the ship could perhaps then cause hull breaches and would have to be repaired inside the ship.
This way it would become a bit of FTL-like and it would be a lot of work, but it should be worth it.

As it is, it is super cool too, it was just some idea that i wanted to share.
EDIT:
Then again, this is more of a shooter kind of gamemode, more based on the action rather then managing your ship, so my idea was probably worthless to this project. :P

lordician's idea is super loving good but also, adding to that, is it possible to replace the camera bricks with a GameTSCtrl window inside the client mod that gives you an overview of the ship's area at all times?  put it in like the corner or something, it'd be like a little half-minimap, half radar.
the only issue with this is i don't know if it's possible to have the player be tracking two different things at the same time.  every implementation of screen-within-screen that i've seen (rear-view mirror, rally's dual-render scope experiment) has been following the player's camera, or derivated from it.  i don't know if you can have the second screen track an entirely different object at the same time.
the pilot would also be able to either switch the screens or just switch to the full view of the ship as normal

An extra GameTSCtrl can only change FOV and z rotation. Not position.

damn, that's a shame. it would be great to see a feature like that.

Would also open a huge can of abuse. Anyone could view from any position.

going off what lord said, you could have the engineers position be in person walking around the ship and the gunners and pilots be 3rd person of the ship. like you said the engi role is already kinda dry compared to the others, this would give it a lil more

the engineer actually does have a compartment he moves around and presses buttons in already but its far from large and further from representing the whole ship

Oh really, sorry, i did not know this.
Makes the engineer sound a lot cooler than the rest to me to be honest. ;P
