The best way I think of breaches is "there are millions of people who got their info breached too, so what's the odds that I'll be compromised anyway?"

might be a ignorant thing to do but ya know lightens the mood.

Honestly we should nationalize the credit bureaus.

if taking a stuff could be nationalized you'd be on board with it

It really depends what your end goal is. The process of stealing an identity is not an easy one, and it's not one that can be well automated.

i can guarantee though a lot of information is going to be sold through the deep web. if there's a will, there's a way.

This is the route I was thinking. We already know there are "deepweb" credit card exchanges, I really wouldn't doubt at all if there was a similar thing for creditcard-SSN pairs.

The difference between this and a regular breach is how the info is used.

If it's a list of e-mails/users and passwords, then congrats, you're going to become a spambot.
Something like this though, someone has to pick you out specifically, knowing the risk would be worth it. As Trinick said, it's not something that can be automated, compared to your e-mail shipping out a bunch of phishing links.

positive to think about, but there's still a market for personal information on the deep web. all of this stuff is going to be sold or handed out one way or another. i'm not exactly sure if all those people's information was breached or the breach could affect millions of people.

if you information is compromised, be prepared for a few years to struggle to identify yourself... as yourself. also be aware that it will be next to impossible to get any loans, which includes car loans and home loans.

all the security audits in the world won't help when your logon information is username: admin, password: admin

even with this happening it'll still probably be the biggest credit firm in the US

somehow has the personal info of stufftons of people

they are a credit reporting agency. literally their entire purpose is to have this information
