turn back now
they'll come for you if you dig too deep
you weren't supposed to find this
You're in this with me now, motherforgeters.
i think it's a symbol indicating what kind of plastic it is and if it's recyclable or not.
That would be it's resin identification code, which identifies it as PETE. This is something different.
From what I gather, the circle is the symbol for enclosure (the cap). An upside-down triangle inside of it, also known as the chalice, is the alchemical sign for water.
I'm not sure what the B stands for....are you sure it's a B and not an 8?
Pretty sure. You're free to put the photo through some filters to see if you can make it more clear. The picture you see is my attempt at sharpening it. Anyway, it looks like it has some sharp edges. Plus, I was with three others at the time I was brown townyzing it, and they all agreed it looked like a "B", not an "8".
its not one of the resin identification codes so it might just be a stamp of manufacturer
That's what I'm starting to think. I'm tempted to track down the manufacturer and give them a call. I mean, I'm not doing much else, lol.
it's probably some generic plastic manufacturer mark, there's literally thousands of different marks for all the random glass and plastic companies
i couldn't find one for plastic but here's a silly little site that documents glass manufacturer marks
https://www.glassbottlemarks.com/bottlemarks/
I left a comment on the website asking if he could point me in the right direction.
UPDATE: I realized after posting this thread that the cap is from a water bottle/jug, not a Gatorade bottle. I was looking at several bottles the other night, and got them mixed up in my head. I will modify the title and body. I really wish I had jotted down the brand...
