bullying someone for having braces is like bullying someone for wearing glasses

Let alone loving childish.

Glasses are super lovey... I can't imagine bullying people for wearing them ;o

Expect years of pain for little to no benefit.  Also your lips will be permanently stretched out.  Unless you have an actual functional problem or you look like loving smeagol when you smile, don't do it.  If I butterfly-effected my self back in time, I would oppose the braces decision to the point of physically fighting my own mother if it were necessary.

Orthodontists prey on the vanity of parents to torture their children for money.  It is not possible to be an suburban orthodontist and be a good person - they are mutually exclusive conditions.
I agree with most of this. I had braces for about 3 years and while any sort of jaw correction is actually worth the money in my experience (had an overbite and had springs for an entire year, upper and lower teeth are now practically aligned), actual braces are a shot in the dark as to whether or not they actually work, potentially even if you use a retainer, as well as being expensive as stuff. Despite having a permanent upper and lower retainer(which cost me anywhere from $100-$500[!] any time they break), my teeth have moved back into their original positions.

There is no secret subtext here.  I say what I mean.  It is torture for money.  I am 90% sure my orthodontist was a literal sadist.  Your teeth move back as soon as you stop wearing your retainer.  There's no loving point to any of it unless your face is massively forgeted up or you're so vain about having ultra straight teeth that you'll keep a piece of plastic in your mouth every night for the next 10 years.

Also I don't know what broke ass school you went to but at mine you wouldn't be able to bully people for having braces because like 30% of the students had them at one point or another.
nah i had braces and only wear my retainer like once a month, got me some nice straight teeth and it didn't cause me pain
your subjective experience just makes it sound like you had a bad orthodontist, that's not the norm

people say i look cute in braces but idk whether to be offended or thankful

still though i ended up being convinced to go to hoco with a girl everyone in my circles knows except me and apparently makes the same caliber of stupidity in jokes as me

Had braces for 3 years for my overbite. First year and a half sucked because I had these metal levers in that eventually broke, making it nearly impossible to close my mouth.

Dramatically helped my overbite and straighten whatever little straightening needed to be done.

Never wore my retainer and my bottom teeth aren't perfectly straight anymore but they're straight enough and my overbite is now gone which is sweet.
