Author Topic: Mountain or illusion?  (Read 2148 times)

So I was looking for ways to make giant detailed mountains without putting in literally thousands of bricks into the detail.

Is it a mountain or clever illusion?

Up close I use smaller bricks for detail and farther away I use bigger cube bricks so people get a weird optical illusion of a bigger mountain but farther away.

Unlike traditional methods of all cube terrain up close or far away.

looks cool. try adding more trees to each depth. that way there's a static object with the same size to compare within each depth, because without it the back ground mountain just looks like you added more small detail to the top of the foreground

Oh that's a great idea

Neat, but is there a way to put the trees on both types of bricks? Also I suggest making the mountain further away that way it has depth when you move around; I. E.: the front shifts significantly more than the back when moving around and looking at it.

you can also use sylv tree tops painted gray to get different height variations like so

I know a more efficient way about making the illusion of a large mountain, I’ll hop onto the server when I get home or something

gotta build bigger if you want more of an illusion, another trick you can use is set another layer even farther back but use even bigger cubes and go even higher.
