CAR NERDS ALERT: my cars dying bro

car is a 2006 chevy cobalt

aight, so im driving yesterday, and suddenly my car starts making this weird noise. it sounds like the engine is making a noise like an old computer fan or something, but loud. driving some more, stuff starts making that godawful cyclical squealing noise that you hear cars make sometimes. it also has a very hard time accelerating. i pull over on the highway to give it a break, and when i start it again its obv really hard for it to start. get close to my apt, go to make a turn and take my foot off the gas, engine just stops middle of the turn. im only able to get it started again by pumping the gas while turning the ignition

so what is this? all my mechanics are closed over the weekend, and i don’t feel comfortable driving to a different town with my car how it is.

when i searched up your car i got these results
(btw i used google and it might not be on your browser)

search it up on googol and see for yourself

did you seriously just base a car purchase recommendation on a trackmania popularity score

ouch

so first off forget y’all
second off it was the timing belt and it’s going to take two weeks to fix so guess who gets to ride the STANK ASS city bus for two weeks

did he seriously just recommend someone to buy a loving car when he is asking what is wrong with it
also those things are ugly as stuff wtf

Careful with the belts, we've blown a ford ranger because the belt was faulty.

lmao over the summer a friend and i replaced the timing belt on his 2006 avalanche in under an hour in someone else's driveway
then again it's probably not as easy to get to the belt in something as compact as a cobalt

im struggling to understand how any of this is even remotely helpful

the fan thing sounds like something with your fan's going bad, if it rattles then it might be the timing chain

The new Hilux uses a chain instead of a belt.
