I was wiping my hard-drive and thought it would be O.K for me to close the lid on my laptop, and now it's giving me an error message : the Computer Restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error and windows installation cannot proceed, press "OK" to restart computer, and restart installation"

my ideas :
installing windows to a usb

i

don't think that's how that works

but anyways

reformat or do what you wanna do and reinstall??? maybe?????

I'm not sure which one, I just want to install windows 10 again.

change your power options so that it doesn't go into sleep mode or standby / windows resume bullstuff on lid close, then retry the installation

if your gonna use a flash drive, rufus is a nice program for creating a bootable usb from an iso

I used windows media creation tool... will this work?

...just restart the windows installer and try again? this time not closing the lid.
seems more of a blogland forums than a techland forums post to me

I tried the suggested above, did not work. stuck in infinite loop.

UPDATE : 10:47 PM CST.
I have managed to get it to work on a windows 8 boot, for testing reasons, as I did not have a win 8 key, this could suggest I could boot it from a windows 10 iso installed on a usb.

have you tried resetting the bits in your harddrive by wiping it down with isopropyl?

yeah.. totally!

yeah.. totally!
if that doesn't work, you might have to burn the iso to the flash drive with a lighter or matches

Now the usb is just smelly!

ok this is a battery fault.
get your battery, wrap it in tinfoil and add a little salt. after that put it in the microwave and turn the microwave on for 3 seconds, this will activate the microprocessors in the battery.

In all seriousness : I've managed to install ubuntu on my laptop, it runs, I guess it can be a temp for now..

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

install windows 8 and run this

or if you haven't tried booting off of a windows 10 usb drive then try downloading the iso via that same app and making a bootable usb drive with rufus or the apps built in tool to create one
