Author Topic: Are you scared of death? / what do you think comes after death?  (Read 8970 times)

To be honest the concept of death always frightened me, due to the fact that one day, I won't exist anymore, I try my best to distract my head from thinking of those things, but sometimes before I go to sleep, it gets in my head and I have a really hard time trying to sleep, which is strange, I'm a christian and I should be fine about that since I believe in heaven, but half of me still doubts it and it gets to me sometimes, it sucks man.

It's best to think death is not total oblivion. In many ways, people benefiting from the things you did while you were alive is another form of existence.

What do you feel and think in a crash?

weird ass flashbacks from when i had an mri

when i was in school in like 2007-8 when i was only like 6 or 7 i thought about this
i got the holy loving stuff scared out of me so i had to be sent home

When you die, your consciousness just stops existing. That's all there is to it really, there's no evidence that heaven/hell/purgatory/limbo/reincarnation/ghosts/spirits exist.

However, that doesn't mean everything is pointless. You should still try to enjoy life, and strive to make the world better - not because you'll be rewarded after death, but because your actions are your mark on history. You may not exist centuries from now, and it's unlikely you'll be remembered, but that's no reason not to try to bring happiness to yourself and others, since that's really the only thing that matters.

You must discover something and kill everything in it to be remembered for centuries on end (see: Christopher Columbus)

Do you have evidence to prove that? no because i have never seen someone comes back to life and tell the facts

Yeah, that's not how the burden of proof works, buddy. You need to prove that heaven exists; you don't need to prove that heaven doesn't exist. In the absence of any other evidence, "nothingness" is the default state.

EDIT: Admittedly, I was a bit too assertive in my original comment; I was expressing my personal opinion, but it would probably have been better to say "In the absence of evidence for heaven/hell/purgatory/limbo/reincarnation/ghosts/spirits, the most reasonable assumption is that your consciousness simply stops existing."

the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence

Yeah, that's not how the burden of proof works, buddy. You need to prove that cessation exists; you don't need to prove that cessation doesn't exist. In the absence of any other evidence, "afterlife" is the default state.
