Author Topic: [NEWS] Yet again the FCC is threatening net neutrality (PETITION)  (Read 30898 times)

With US internet plans do you have a limit on how much usage you have for internet? Like do you have a 500 gb limit and if you go over you have to pay extra?
Yes, all the large ISP's here have implemented usage caps on their broadband internet packages. Personally, I have comcast and I get a 1tb/month cap. If I exceed that cap, I get charged each gb over the limit. I do not get any notification that I am over my cap either, I'm expected to log in online and view the current usage. You can get the cap removed by paying $60/month extra on your plan.

Depends on where you live, I have Centurylink and I don't have a cap

lowkey suppressing the urge to be against net neutrality just to spite MM tbh

Probably because you're grandfathering an older plan without it.

same

nah, i moved here fairly recently

still, it's frightening that centurylink could institute data caps and there's pretty much nothing i could do about it, because the free market doesn't work when there's a monopoly

to everyone who thinks the internet wasnt that bad pre-2015 and don't see it getting any worse than that, im curious: do you genuinely trust big companies not to take extreme measures in favor of their own agenda?

im just curious cause wasnt literally everyone against this at one point?

yeah, what I don't get is why would someone even want to repeal this? it's doing absolutely no harm by being a law and it would be a net loss if repealed

The businessmen are running the show and if a law prevents money from being made then it makes sense to remove it

yeah, from their stand point, which isn't what I was asking

from your average citizens standpoint? not really

People are gullible, there's probably some kind of drivel being fed to them that would make them think Net Neutrality is some kinda work of the devil. I mean all you have to do is mention Obama was involved and a ton of people will automatically wanna have it repealed.

most of the astroturfing being done is that it's just "another bad obama regulation" that's "suffocating small businesses" and "preventing free market access" and things like that, despite the fact that it's the exact opposite of those 3.

I think NN is a broadly appealing policy, there's polls showing a majority of Americans support it

default state is distrust of corporations
if you trust a corporation you have already lost
