Author Topic: My Steam Account has been compromised  (Read 2664 times)

Got this email from Steam at 5am

I got a popup in the Steam app to verify my email, I did, and now I hope whoever did this isn't able to log in or use my linked PayPal or whatever.
Is it possible for someone to do me a biggy and dig up more info on that ip? Also I don't know why it says I'm in North Dakota

That is why u don't link your paypal with steam or anything at all. If you get random messages that say "verify email" do not verify if your not sure why you have received the message. Do you have the phone thingy? If yes he shouldn't be able to login to your account.

Use mobile authenicator, they’d need to physically steal your phone to log in if you enable it.
Oops im handicapped

So you got a email confirmation and confirmed it? why?

why did you randomly verify a login you didn't do
i'm sorry but this seems like your fault

Well it asked if my email was the account's correct email, I said yes and I didn't know it would affect anything
I am switching passwords rn

I don't know the difference between verifying an account email and not letting them in. I never verified the log in, only the email.

That's what I am saying, I only verified my email was correct.

Not so much of a gr8 day anymore :(
oooh sneaky birdplant ninja

It just said that someone tried logging in and gave me the login code, and the ip info. I didn't do stuff besides verify my email. May I mention that with the password now reset, every computer that is logged into the account now has to relog in with the totally different password

So I searched the IP up and one of the websites says the Reputation is "Bad" (Not sure what that means)
I also found out it's apparently in Clearwater, Florida, and there's a bit of other info on a website, which I don't know if it's true or not.

ISP - Windstream Nuvox Inc.

Hostname - tse-industries.com

Domain Name - windstream.com

Though I searched up those two websites and they seem innocent enough, not sure what else there is though.

Basically just searching up the IP can yield some form of results, but it's hard to know what's true, as Steam basically never guesses what city you're in right, and these IP sources have no credibility or anything, but one thing that is similar is the whole Nuvox and tse-industries.com thing.

is it possible your email was hacked as well

That's weird. I live half the state away from Clearwater, and I've never heard of Windstream. I do see they have VPN services however.

Not too sure, it's my brother's email that I have the password for so idk

"attempt" now = "been compromised" apparently.
