let's be real, it's still a choice
just one that has no business being legislated by the government
yes i agree with the second part but when you get hooked on certain drugs theres literally nothing you can do unless you're willing to spend 15 years in prison

no but I did get sent to detention in 9th grade for saying "I will fight every band kid"

Honorable

1. you still made a choice to try it in the first place
2. mczealot said it was marijuana, which isn't physiologically addicting, though it can be habit-forming

Maybe don't do something illegal then?

anyone in their right mind (not conservatives) believe what you do in your own time is your business. a vast majority of people in college are going to drink and smoke pot, but as long as they pay tuition and go to classes why does it matter that someone smokes some pot in their free time?

seriously even the libertarians have this one figured out

1. you still made a choice to try it in the first place
not as accurate as you may think. people get hooked on heroin because of oxytocin, friends jokingly spike drinks, peer pressure kicks in, countless other scenarios. one of my irl friends got on crack for a while because he was with this one batstuff crazy girl and she had some cocaine left and basically said that if he didn't help her snort it all she'd kill herself

where tf did he say it was weed

this is fair enough, and a lot of people turn to drugs out of desperation or because they have nothing left; this is still a choice, but it's one I don't necessary blame people for taking
I didn't mean to imply that drug users were bad people or that they deserve to be left in a terrible situation

where tf did he say it was weed
he said this:
reefer madness
which is apparently an anti-marijuana propaganda movie

yeah this never made sense
"you did something wrong. as punishment, we will prevent you from going to class"
like what

having your grades forgeted with for failing a drug test sounds ok to me

anyone in their right mind (not conservatives) believe what you do in your own time is your business.

uh

okay, but grades aren't the purpose of school (or at least they shouldn't be), learning is
preventing someone from enriching themselves because they failed a drug test just seems mean-spirited to me

and honestly, who cares? as long as he's not using drugs while driving or while at school, what difference does it make if he uses them in his spare time

oh yeah isnt mczealot in highschool too though?

he said this:which is apparently an anti-marijuana propaganda movie
oh oops, i wouldn't have gotten that reference lol mb

oh oops, i wouldn't have gotten that reference lol mb
i didn't either, i had to google it :P

okay, but grades aren't the purpose of school (or at least they shouldn't be),

no offense lol but this sounds like something someone with stuff grades would say. the whole point of getting grades is to get farther in school and holding that back because you forgeted up doesn't sound too mean to me

and honestly, who cares? as long as he's not using drugs while driving or while at school, what difference does it make if he uses them in his spare time

sure but i don't think it's a good idea to tell high schools to do drugs as long as you're not driving or at school. doesn't really sound like a recipe for success

you disappoint me

no offense lol but this sounds like something someone with stuff grades would say
i finished in the top 5% at my school but okay
(to be clear, i'm just saying this to defend myself, not to brag about it)

I think there's an undue level of focus on grades in school, even though I happen to benefit from it

i wasn't saying we should encourage that behavior, just that it's weird to punish it so heavily
it would be like giving students detentions because they played more than 2 hours of video games last night
