space force-holograms
Which aren't even anything that new, considering in Legends, Luke conjured an illusion of an entire fleet once.
Couldn't they have him summon a black hole from across the galaxy (done by Palpatine in Dark Empire) as something properly force bullstuffty to die over?

Personally I really don't care for "space powers" force stuff like Summon Black Hole for 200,000,000 dps

I was hoping for some like, new dimensions to the force, aspects to it that we had never had any idea about, basically rewriting everything we knew about it

Like, everything was retconned, right? That means they had every opportunity to completely surprise us with some new revelations about the force

like a Deep side of the force or some stuff, i don't think i can come up with anything remotely as interesting as i'm looking for

new director, new take on the franchise.

i thought the movie was good. sent chills down my spine in some scenes.

also the scene where the raddus cruiser went into hyperspace through the supremacy's wing was so loving cool

Honestly I felt like Leia should've died after the bridge of the Resistance cruiser got blown up, instead of using her hidden Mary Poppins to float back onto the ship. After that she proved to be pretty inconsequential to the plot and I think it would've left more of an impact.

Unlike others I didn't have a problem with the Porgs. Honestly, I was afraid they would show up more than they actually did.

Rose ended up being a pretty uninteresting character, and I think her role should've been downplayed a bit more. I do think the casino scene was one of the highlights of the movie, and unlike some of the other big set pieces it wasn't that much of a drag.

fastest jedi training, ever.

bb8 piloting an atst was pretty badass

There were some really awesome parts and some really stupid parts. That being said I wanna see it again

I've seen it about 4 times because I work at a theater. It's not the most rewatchable thing we've ever had.

I hated almost all of it
The whole movie just felt like it took place in one area, that stupid little mining planet and the space outside it. We didn't see the giant universe you would come to expect from a Star Wars film. So many stuffty scenes like Leia and the overpassionate pandering "hope!!!!" speeches. They also missed out on sooooo many opportunities like they coulda made that boring bland mining planet into like Hoth or another previous planet. How cool would it be if we could see the old Hoth base abandoned and half snowed in and the Rebels using abandoned snowspeeders. Also I really wished they would actually touch upon the other (and cooler) characters like Obi Wan and Palpatine.

to me it didn't really feel like a Star Wars movie and just some corporate rehash

Some good things tho:
The smaller rebel frigate (piloted by that god-awful purple haired character) ramming into the larger First Order ship
The imagery with the red salt
The lightsaber scenes were pretty kickass
Same with the battle scenes
I liked the storm imagery and the island
I liked the callback to the Clone Wars Luke made (at least they actually loving mentioned the prequels)

ehhh i feel like if they had done that they would have gotten slammed for being a rehash of empire. that wouldn't be a bad thing, TFA had a lot of similarities to ANH but was still really good. that being said i would rather see new planets and stuff.

yeah this is something i really want. just some mention of the older characters so we can figure out what happened that pretty much put the rebellion back to where it was when ANH started. although we are getting the obi wan movie which will be cool. it also really bugged me that snoke is gone already and we know nothing about him. I guess it the grand scheme it doesn't really matter, but it seems crazy that this force user just came out of no where that's strong enough to make force bridges between people...

remind me what this was? can't remember. still have a soft  spot for the prequels cause i grew up with them, in spite of their many faults

also yeah gotta agree the fight scenes were really cool, especially when rey and kylo were fighting snoke's guards

Luke was talking to Rey about how it's time for the Jedi to end (which is utter and completed bullstuff because no Jedi would ever say that, especially since Luke, the supposed strongest Jedi to live) and he brings up about how during the Jedi's height they were undermined by the emperor

o yeah ok i remember now

i cringed when purple head and leia said may the force be with you at the same time and then shrugged it off weirdly
