lmao yeah my server is highlighted in that pic and later on that night it hit 75 players at once which was an all-time high for me
too bad that wont ever happen again! maybe

rate

if anyone wants to do some actual brown townysis go ahead but by drawing trend lines in paint i have roughly calculated that one player stops playing blockland once every 6 days since 2010
after some pain extracting the raw data into something excel likes, the decay rate from the last year of data is appears to be one less player for peak player count every 3-4 days
if anyone has more recent data or a better dataset do share

as for server counts, the most recent 240 days of data shows a 8 day moving average increase of a server every 12 days, but that's probably cyclic somehow

if you want to play around with the statistics bullstuff https://www.garycact.us/masterstats/brown townysis.php is the max players per day since june 3rd of this year. makes up for the days not on kalphiter's chart

on the front page of the steam store, being one of the votes during summer sale

Filipe also made a video when it happened https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKkTEklhvdg

god forget nu steam sales

linear trend shows a decay rate of a player every 2.4 days, while moving averages generally show a slower rate of decay from 3-5 days/player lost

now using the data from the past 400 days using your data after kalphiter's gives a decay of 5.8 days with linear trend, and moving averages gives a comparable decay ~6 days

using the averaged 51 days of data from both sources averaged gives a rate ~5.44 days (took too long to figure out how to average them)
and finally, using the past 206 days with the first 51 days averaged gives a rate of 2.3 days linear trend (reciprocal of per day loss)

so why can't i not recommend the game? i used to play it and enjoyed it a lot in the past, but i would still not recommend it to a friend because they would probably wouldn't really like it

I feel like Electrk didn't really get his point across perfectly but I do get what he's trying to say

Some people want the game to have more players, yet they scare others off saying "The game is good but there's no community what-so-ever"

It's like saying "I don't want this man to die" whilst constantly stabbing him.

ok that makes more sense but i still wouldnt recommend it

That's fine, it's the people who want the game to get better but stab in in the process that are not fine.

this sounds familiar..

Personally, I love Blockland. I would've paid 40$ for this game if I had to. Even if it was single-player only. I would definitely say I got my money's worth and would recommend this game, However this community is the opposite of welcoming, creative & wholesome. The community is a manifestation of stuff and it makes the game look horrible to possible customers. Even the smallest glimpse at off-topic puts a foul taste in my mouth.

tbh although im happy i gave $20 to badspot i'd like to give like a Million Dollar to the forgetin people in the community that contribute so much to the game and make others aspire to do the same

i wouldn't obviously give any to a lot of people in the community but there's definitely those who really deserve it

like honestly, none of us would be here (aka nobody would be playing the game) if the game stayed as vanilla, with no add-ons or modding whatsoever, just the vanilla game. add-ons are the reason why people play the game at this point and is the reason why the game has stayed alive for so long

I always see people talking about the community being bad. But I just cant see it.
Give some examples.
