[~New Builds~] Saving Blockland | Our Survival Guide

I think having too much addons isn't good for servers either btw, I only try to go with a few unless im richarding around in singleplayer. I've had cool ideas for servers aswell but I've got other things to do or just lack of interest.

Man, you're making me want to make a large scale multi-player campaign for 8 or fewer players.

honestly, the lack of decent bot AI is the main thing that discourages me from making some sort of a campaign

Yknow what else would be nice? Like a giant megathread for tutorials on how events works because alot of ideas I have need them but I can't figure like 80% of the rest of them out. I think it'd be a good way to start getting people to make more complex stuff in BL

As for player for me it's very important to have at least 5-6 players on my server. Most of the time thir amount keeps on the 3-4. You guys definitely know what should be implemented if something even will be at all. The main thought was about the game initially having a lot wider content variety than it has right now.

Speaking about filling game with stuff like bricks and prints we usually think that "our own" (presented in our Add-Ons folder) sets of bricks will be added. But there's only thing we should consider before adding something — default styled content only. It's obvious for some of you but not for all. The idea is that people already created a lof of content, but only certain of it should be there. I said that content should be default or "blocko" styled, there are still a place for the grade for considering add-on as block-ish.

Let's talk about examples. They could be imperfect for anyone who will read this, but i still calling you guys read this message fully.

Decal_CreedCamo — Still not default and not everyone needs army camo, it doesn't look too weird especially for newbies for considering it as default. All we need in this case it's just pack 10-12 types of military decals into single archive.
Brick_InvertedCorners — We don't have such useful bricks as default for some reason. But let's be honest we need them sometimes when the're not on the server.
Brick_MoreRoads — They just like default ones, but less wider. Not so good example.
Item_Keycard — Sometimes we need to bring a new fresh look into our builds. Keys not always match this requirement and "bundled" Input events still have a strong advantage instead of ordinary and boring keys.
Weapon_FragmentGrenade — Famous and cool grenade for deathmatch.  I expect there are could be a 3-4 types of different grenades same style and quality so we wil have no need to download additional or use included in weapon packs — lestt content for downloading, less joining time.
System_ServerLoad — This obvious is for most experienced of us. This isn't default and every (dedicated) server building load turns into pain in the ass. Especially when save is huge.
Weapon_Tricorder — And again, it's  not necessary for people, but for anyone who purchased Blockland a few weeks ago this will be a helpful world discovering tool.

Print_1x1_BlockTarget
Print_1x1_Warnings (my set of the prints, was so flattered when saw them on someone's screenshot, thanks BL community).
Print_1x1_TrafficSigns01

These are still examples of initial possible wide variety of prints. We don't have needs for them when playing on freebuild or something similar, but when save we are loaded will ask for some content that's missing, we'll enable this. Of course this wall of the text would be shorter, but i wanted to be sure that community will have my every word to understand me correctly. There's still not so much things we need to insert into the game, but if we achieve at least part of some really useful stuff, this will be a such celebration.

I've been working on a house that's supposed to have a spooky effect or something.

why shouldn't we just let it die, GSF is already working on a spiritual successor

do you unironically think it will get anywhere and if it does do you think it will actually be good

I have more hope in another person's project, but yes I think there will be an excellent successor close on the horizon.

dude this game is half of my childhood. i hope it can still be around by the time i have a car.
although i probably wont play as much anymore because i got a car to have fun with

Okay, so that house will be released as is, even though I consider it unfinished, however before that, I'd like everyone to take a look at this modern building
and tell me what they'd like to see. (Remember Default bricks only)

Me and my friend are currently in the process of making something which we hope will be really cool and that the community can enjoy, so I guess it's good timing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Previews and maybe a demo should be out soon, and I hope it helps the cause somewhat :)

While Blockland Glass and DAProgs RTB mirror have been around for a while, there are some add-ons that only have a presence on the forums, and as such are harder to find/even know that they exist. ►►►COMPLETE AND CATEGORIZED LIST OF ADD-ONS !CLOA! should help in finding add-ons with only a forum presence, however it is now outdated (last updated May 28, 2015). Additionally, add-on download links break over time for various reasons; someone willing to upload add-ons they have collected over the years could help find add-ons that would otherwise be lost in time.

Lastly, the shear amount of add-ons out there could be off putting considering how time consuming downloading and installing them would be to someone not really too into the game; blockland glass definitely is a must have for new users to easily download add-ons and hook them long enough to bother with the other add-on collections.
