Author Topic: The 2018 Golden Globes are on and they didn't take the hint from the Emmys  (Read 6507 times)

My parents are watching the Golden Globes right now and I caught a glimpse of the opening monologue by Seth Meyers. They haven't learned anything from the Emmys, in which everything was political and because of that no one watched it. The whole bit Meyers did was joke after joke about white privilege and he even threw it to the crowd, who made the exact same type of jokes. He even threw it to Amy
Poehler who made a joke about mansplaining and followed it up with probably the worst pun I've ever heard.

I'm not gonna watch the rest of it but I wouldn't be surprised if they give out a bunch of diversity-hire awards and have a bunch of dumbass political monologues shooting at Annoying Orange. I believe they said that there are political activists in the audience and Meyers spent a long time praising Tom Hanks and crew for that WaPo movie.

Friendly reminder to Hollywood that the last Emmys were the least watched I think ever and that the movie industry is seeing their lowest numbers in several decades. I wonder why...

anyways, /discuss

You know I don't really mind them being socially conscious after the Weinstein stuff, but I do have to say that it seems like they're trying really hard to get tweeted at by Annoying Orange at every awards show now.

Annoying Orange is dump

Can't wait until some hack like Bill Maher hosts next year and every joke is "uhhhh covfefe is fake news"

this is why I like the dark basements where obscure awards are rewarded in exchange for 1 whole subscriber on youtube.

Who the hell watches award shows anyway
