Author Topic: the evil alt right trolls are attempting to take down Black Panther now!!!  (Read 2603 times)

If they're trying to brigade a movie review site because of politics, then they're undermining the rating scheme by submitting bullstuff data. It has nothing to do with 'only allowing positive reviews' since the whole point is that none of them saw the movie anyway. Similar positive-review brigading is equally dumb.

OHHH!! MY!! GOD!!! WHO! THE LE CARES

Yes, that is a brigade. Their size isn't huge compared to the total ratings but it's still enough to bring the average down, and it is, by definition, a vote brigade whether you like it or not. and it's annoying.

a small group of 1,000 "alt-right" trolls who claim they are fully responsible for the last jedi's bad score are planning to flood Black Panther's reviews with negative reviews

All movies suck now anyway.

it's literally half of a percent
Ok? so because you don't think it's a big deal, that means it isn't? vote brigading is antithetical to ratings websites, regardless of what impact it has. it's just low-profile shilling.

edit: the reason I care about this is because I am extremely active on rateyourmusic. this stuff distracts from discussion about releases and puts the focus petty politics surrounding the release. "Why is the average so low," "how have people seen/heard this? has it leaked?" and so on. If the politics surrounding a work are relevant then its worth discussion, but vote brigading isn't interesting, it's just reactionism that hurts the website. it's annoying.

a bunch of sweaty neckbeards are trying to gain publicity by saying they're going to flag a movie as bad because black people

people make everything political, but it's always a small amount, in fact, it's probably consistently this amount of people

the only reason that it's being reported on now and rotten tomatoes is taking action is because all the lefties and critics are acting like this movie is the second coming of michael jackson

why are people making such a big deal about black panther its literally just another generic marvel capestuff movie but this time it has black people

That's why

it's literally half of a percent
I don't feel like the magnitude of the effect really changes the stupidity of the action. Also, there's no metric for how many people actually participated. 1,000 is the lower extreme because it's presumably the number of people we know participated.
