i still think battlemix is better than randomizer though.
Care to explain? Is it because of the whole lives situation? Boy I wish there was a better way to handle this but no one was interested to suggest. Of course randomizer is worse than nearly any dm/tdm because it's rng based, that's the whole point of the server really. I wish I had balance it more but no one suggests any balacing ideas either. Can't make a better server if people just say it sucks.

again that doesn't fully answer all of my questions but okay

I am gonna do 1 more test but I will twist it up. 2 weeks of infinite lives, 1 week of 1 life, grab votes and then the votes will guide me on what is truely better - this sounds like a good idea to have infinite lives for 1 week and no lives for a few days or so, then see the results

release battlemix you dont need to release all the custom weapons and stuff just give us the bare bones gamemode

i'm not going to spend time figuring out dependencies and code and acting as tech support for a gamemode that i don't like all that much. additionally i have the power of memory and know that the few times i rehosted battlemix it lasted two weeks before completely dying out again, so even if someone rehosts battlemix it is bound to die fast. i also remember the 10 different times people released their gamemodes like pit of 100 trials and rescue the princess and how those were hosted by absolutely nobody even though they were pretty good. it's not worth my time. i'm not going to work on something that i don't care for.

the only time battlemix is good is when both teams have the same inventory. it makes the game fair and playable, compared to one dude spawning with disco railgum and another guy spawning with the default bow

that sounds like something destroyerofblocks would say, followed up by 'dont listen to phantos opinions'

Limited lives is objectively funner because there are higher stakes involved than just respawning and running at brothers with whatever you have. It forces you to brown townyze your hand and understand which foes are easier to fight and which ones aren't. Of course, that's only provided that the game is truly random and some people can actually spawn with booty weapons.

Best way I can think of is to meticulously design your maps so they incorporate all playstyles (cqb, long range, acrobatic, airshot, splash, etc) and use a roster of equally balanced weaponery similar to tournaments. Then, when you get a random hand, you won't be limited by how bad the guns are but rather your lack of skill or versatility with that set of weapons.

Some people might get a sniper and a shotgun, a great pair that can dominate most of the playing field, while some people could get like, a shotgun and an assault rifle, which restricts them to mid-close range. Though it's randomly chosen what weapons you get and some will get a better chemistry of weapons, you can still use your lack of versatility to focus on one playstyle that round, making you just as effective. While the sniper enemy will have long sights of the map, your shotgun wielding ass will have to adapt to flanking the sniper and utilizing cover to get in close. Then you level the playing field.

This kind of randomizer is incredibly dull but well balanced. You could spice it up by adding wacky weapons that are still well balanced, but for the most part the goofy slapstick randomness has to be sacrificed for the much needed balancing

but battlemix doesnt give people the bow

the best way to host a gamemode that lots of people like is doing it manually and occasionally. that way people will want to join so that they don't have to wait for next time which could be whenever and also so they can fill their craving for more of the gamemode that they love without over-exercising it so that they don't get bored of it and make the playercount drop which usually happens it within the first 3 days of a server going dedicated

i didnt get a chance to play battlemix but it looks like a very fun gamemode. i dont understand why gyt hates it but i think that he should hand the assets over to someone else who is willing to host it for the people who do want to play it

Gyt hates everything he makes, apparently

Gyt you gotta have some self esteem man
