You didn't provide any solutions yourself. And yeah, the purpose of that post was to solely criticize that idea. Do you have a point?

You were the the one who made the argument for 'right solutions'. Not him.

I remarked that I strongly believe arming teachers is the wrong solution, that's all.

I’m all for gun control, not taking away arms completely. I lean right pretty heavily on most things, but I have to admit I found it pretty disturbing just how easy getting a gun is. Story time.

About a year ago my neighbor asked me and my dad If we wanted to go shoot automatic weapons at a local shooting range, he had a coupon for 4 people. So hell yeah lets do it. We walk in, get signed up and everything else, when I spot a Walther PPQ (big fan of this gun), so I showed my dad. Dad asked the guy how much is it. “$450” “Alright i’ll buy it, what do I have to do?” Guy handed us 2 papers to sign. We owned that gun in  less than 8 minutes. No background check, nothing.

Fast forward a month, we go to a gun convention they were having, i’ll spare most of the details, but we walked in, and I found a gun I instantly wanted (Sig P320 9mm) so I asked my dad if he’d get it, dad also found a pink CZ for my mom. So we bought those. 2 papers later, total time of maybe 15 minutes? So we walk around a bit more, and I found a good deal on a Ruger AR-15. Well, less than 15 minutes later, I owned it. Not my dad, me. 19 at the time and I just walked up and bought the thing.

I personally thing that is ridiculous that it is that easy to obtain such things with little restrictions. I’m not saying to ban them, take them away or anything like that. But in my opinion you should need to undergo a federal background check, and perhaps as far as getting a psychological evaluation before being eligible for a firearm license. Sure, people can lie and fake it, but it would weed out some people, perhaps such as the Florida guy who apparently showed tell tale signs of being mentally ill.

And yeah, of course they can always obtain one illegally, but if they go through the legal process and fail at any point, that would give a red flag to law enforcement that this guy shouldn’t have a weapon and should possibly be looked into.

Idk I kinda ranted here a bit, i’ve been awake for 20 hours and I typed this on my phone. Hope it at least makes some sense.

Now that Ive filled out my 25 dollar online registration fee and payed my yearly 200 dollar handgun owners fee finally recieved my mental background check after 5 months I will PHYSICALLY be unable to go shoot anyone.

Lol-worthy

And have you been on hiatus or am I more blind than I think?

"I know you are but what am I"

okay here's the tactical nuke way to stop gun violence in general

1. Gun Violence Restraining Orders (GVROs)

https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/02/gun-control-republicans-consider-grvo/

TL;DR if your family thinks you're unstable they can petition the government to temporarily suspend your right to bear arms and if there's evidence that there is a problem with you you will be unable to buy/own guns as per the law until you get better

2. Project Exile

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Exile
https://www.crimesolutions.gov/ProgramDetails.aspx?ID=413

mainly deals with gang violence but if you are found to have a gun that you are not allowed to have (mostly due to you being a convicted criminal) you get five years in jail immediately
under this, in Richmond VA where it was being tested, homicides were halved in a decade and there was also a sharp decline in robberies

3. Public schools/workplaces, security guards, and funding

pretty simple, if a school or a building that is publicly owned/funded does not have at least one armed security guard, their funding gets docked until they do
any privately owned thing does not have to follow this but the appeal of having a security guard will probably get to them and they'll hire one too

4. Allow the teachers that want to carry and that feel like they can carry to carry

duh

5. Harsher sentences for government officials loving up

people in the government who don't catch glaring tips like in this case or who just forget up with paperwork like with the texas shooter should not just be fired, they should be harshly tried for criminal negligence
this has the bonus effect of cleaning up the FBI's act in addition to stopping potential Hardcore Gamers

this is all I have so far but it'll do a lot better than everything that has been proposed by democrats

teehee ^_^
Everyone log off right now and loving kill yourselves

I'm skeptical.

What State do you live in? Because majority of states it isn't that easy unless your dad already had the proper licensing. If he had a Concealed Carry permit already then yeah it'd be as easy as signing a paper but he at least went through training first. The last thing anyone in this debate should want to do is paint something a little more complicated as easy. Again each story is your dad signing the paperwork and not you. If it was JUST you on your own I don't think it'd be so easy.

never mind that every federally-licensed gun shop owner must perform a background check on you as per federal law

And that paperwork has to be documented to an extreme degree of detail.

and gun shop owners can turn you away for literally any reason they want
