Well, since I was bored, I decided to just show what I think would be a good idea for a stable. This is just like, showing simple cells for the horses etc. Just to tell you , this is all untextured :P.



This is the inside with a close view of the cells. As you can see, the cell bars that protect the horses from running away is made up of cylinders that have 6 sides (so in fact they are hexagons) for a low poly count.
The two blocks you see there can be textured in the future for hay as if it were to be the food for the horses.


This is just an overview of the inside of the stable. Sorry if you dont see the hay in this picture, I just added it after I made the screenshot. I made sure there were 2 rows of cells because I realized that 8 cells wouldnt be enough to house every single horse. Also, the booth is where the stable master (npc) is. Talk to him or her for information on keeping your horse.


This is a picture of the outside, with the sign on top of the roof which would be textured and UV mapped to say "Stable" or "Port Town Stable" or whatever.

To register a horse, you would talk to the NPC that is located inside that box / booth. Your horse will automatically appear inside one of the cells. Once you have chosen yes to keep your horse there, it would tell you whether (rule here *example: your horse will be removed and placed in the wilderness after 3 days of inactivity [or] your horse will be brought to my larger barn, but if you ask me later, i can port it back to you after 3 days of inactivity*)

Also the NPC would make it so you MUST have a password for your horse or else the NPC will reject keeping your horse saying it wouldn't be safe for the animal to stay here without having an owner who cares about it. It may be mistreated if brought into the wrong hands. (the npc is an animal lover, give her/him a break)

I would make horse housing free, but only for a certain amount of time. Some peopelewill put their horse and never play the game again, so either you can make charges for time. Once your time is over, the horse will be ported outside into wilderness where anyone can hop on or kill it.

OR! You can make it so that the horses are but for only a certain amount of time, such as 3 days. If the horse hasn't been touched for 3 days, the horse information is saved and you can ask an NPC and he will make it appear for you so you can once again use it. This is for cosmetic uses and to make the housing of horses practical.

To get your horse, you would have to go down the rows. find your "namehere's horse" and then you would click "e" and then a password popup would appear. If the password entered is correct, the horse is once again put inside your inventory for safe keeping.

Looks like you put some good effort into this, and it looks great. Horse theft needs to be stopped :)

I wouldn't mind a way to pack the horse back into a box, as well as some kind of banking system.
