Author Topic: Honestly, forget Imgur.  (Read 2141 times)

What is this stuff?

I've been storing CyTube emote sets on Imgur so that I could quickly post them to CyTube based on what I'm showing, and now Imgur is like "oh you can't do that anymore haha", even though they give you loving share links on ALL of the images you post.

So what do I move to? I used Photobucket before because it was the only one I knew about and I switched to Imgur because it was convenient, but now I can't even use images for things anymore. What a loving joke.

loving /discuss

o wow i didnt know that was in imgurs terms my website might have done that at one point oops

completely fair lol
if you want a CDN sign up for S3. it's ridiculously cheap to begin with (like 0.04 cents per 1k requests, and 9 cents per GB after the first GB), but in fact the free tier should be more than enough for..... cytube emotes
https://aws.amazon.com/s3/pricing/

why are 20 of your topic titles "honestly, forget ___" or "the beautiful destruction of ___"

this is a result of CyTube being too cheap to actually host the images on their own site. Blame them, not the website they've been taking advantage of for free

imgur is for sharing images not hosting your emotes lol

"what? this free website changed their terms because they were losing money because other websites were exploiting them? forget you! how dare you be upset that you're losing income! serve my every whim or i will sully your honor on a lego forum!"

this free website changed their terms
I don't think they changed anything, that has more than likely been in their terms of use since day 1, and cytube just got away with it until now

lmao that makes my argument even better

explain to me how me using images I posted on imgur to use as emotes on cytube is different from me using them as reaction images here on the BLF

itll stop being requested eventually iirc

at least it doesn't force u to pay 400 bux per year just so you can show runescape pictures to a loving forum

explain to me how me using images I posted on imgur to use as emotes on cytube is different from me using them as reaction images here on the BLF

because one person hosting images to reach 400~ people a day is far less taxing on a server than a million cytube rooms requesting the image every time they send a emoticon

forget.
Back to using base64 for my BLF themes I guess.

Also, don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that turns us into your content delivery network. If you do – and we will be the judge – or if you do anything illegal, in addition to any other legal rights we may have, we will ban you along with the site you're hotlinking from, delete all your images, report you to the authorities if necessary, and prevent you from viewing any images hosted on Imgur.com. We mean it.

Any and all of the themes I've made for the BLF up until now will be unlinked and removed from stylish and anywhere else I've linked it.
