i hate (fiction)cop shows

jesus christ why are there so many cop shows
they all have the exact same plot, poorly written main characters, painfully predictable endings, and everyone except the antagonists makes me want to scream mary sue. at some point i just gave up on remembering which cliche character is from which series. 'nonviolent' people keep praising these shows that often show a romanticized gruesome version of reality and how much life sucks.
nitpicking: is it just me or do like half of these newer cop shows have some 'geeky' tech girl that has unlimited hacking abilites?
wheres the appeal?

they all end the same way. they eventually find a suspect, then the suspect just admits to everything.


they couldnt have happy endings unless there is implied convictions. but there is no way these fantasy investigations could ever do them in the ways they do.

probably because thats sorta how police procedurals work...? comparing any different shows of a genre just ruins it all
the appeal is just that it's a fun show that you can get attached to the characters and enjoy the plot, get connections, etc. shows like castle are just like any other but it's still a great show with fun humorous characters and it still managed to make me relate in some way to each and every character

I believe in Law and Order SVU, there's one person who was arrested upon accusations that he raped a girl on a reality tv show, but was found not guilty for lack of evidence.

idk it depends on which one
CSI: Miami is pretty gay but I love that about it, idk most of the other CSIs, they seem not great
NCIS has good characters, so it's ok
all the law and orders are pretty good imo too, they show a bit more of the law side unlike most of the others which just show them catching the criminal and then let you assume they got convicted

some are pretty bad though like CSI: Cyber, stupid as hell
