Author Topic: blb to OBJ or MDL?  (Read 2197 times)

Im working on a project, a rather large one, and i need to convert a BLB file, and maybe a BLS file to OBJ. Are there any tools for this?

I don't recall any converters for blb to obj, or anything of that sorts. But somebody made a plugin for blender that imports blbs, here.

Thanks a ton. You have no clue how much this helps me :)

ahh, you need it for that game ur werkin on eh?

To do this, you'll need Blender and BLB2OBJ or BLS2OBJ, which are found right in Demian's DataOrb Blockland folder.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to make your OBJ and export it properly.

IMPORTING

1. Extract whichever one of the utilities you need (you might need both) into a folder.

2. BLB2OBJ; give it some BLBs, whether default or not. If you need default bricks, you might want to copy the library folder from BLS2OBJ into the folder of BLB2OBJ.
BLS2OBJ; give it some BLSes. If they use non-default bricks, you'll have to add the BLBs of the bricks you need into the utility's library folder.

3. Drag your BLB or BLS to the respective utility. It should create an OBJ.

FIXING

You will most likely need to fix your bricks for them to have correct shading and to not be inverted. This is where you'll need Blender.

4. Open Blender, get past the splash screen.

5. Remove the cube and import your OBJ.

6. Select your import and go into Edit Mode.

7. Go into the UV Mapping section, and do Set From Faces and Flip Direction.

8. Export your finished, properly lighted product as whatever format you need that Blender can export to.
