anyways who is pretty much spot on. gambling disorder is a real mental disorder that classifies people who are routinely obsessed and thoroughly addicted to gambling so much that it destroys their lives. if gambling disorder or research addiction disorders exist, why can't video game addictions be considered a mental disorder? it basically has the same outcome of all the other addictions - it absorbs your life and destroys it
there are people out there who actually show up late to their job because they spent the previous 12 hours playing dark souls or fortnite and did that instead of sleeping. nobody here on this forum really THAT addicted, but there are people out there who spend like 14 hours every day playing video games and it destroys their social and work life completely, and when they try to quit they are mentally and physically unable to, as in like taking them away from video games results in extreme depression or breakdowns
anyone who plays video games should evaluate the validity of video game addiction as a real disorder, just like anyone who gambles acknowledges that gambling addiction is a thing. it doesn't mean you're addicted, but you should definitely know its a threat to your life and should avoid it
