equipping an item as a custom playertype changes me back to default

(i used the wraith for pure sake of demonstration, but it happens with all playertypes)
can i get any help with this?

Probably a conflicting add-on, disable everything that isn't default except the playertypes and try again. When did this issue start? Check all add-ons you've enabled since this started happening and disable them.

Try disabling the following add-ons:
- Weapon_Modern
- Weapon_INFRifle
- Weapon_HL1Guns
- All BKT weapon packs
