nintendo is the only one trying to protect their old games. but they really only are trying to resell like 50 of them out of 1000.
but they cant begin to distinguish between what is abandon-ware or not, because it cheapens their stance, so they have to protect them all.

maybe books or art or other meaningful publication but not vacuums why vacuums lol vacuums don't identify with people and their lives. not enough people find their escapism in the whirring of vacuums. only a very select few amount of people will spend more than an hour of their time playing with a vaccum

show me vaccum e-sports and then we'll talk you big idiot........

This type of stuff doesn't just forget with videogames.
Film has been totally and completely forgeted in it's early years because of a complete lack of care towards historical preservation, and a stronger care of burning the silver out of films to get their money back.

When you find a way to preserve the ability to use a vacuum in a digital media to circumvent the eventual vanishing of the physical product I'd love to see it

Ok, so what if valve goes out of business and stops selling their games. You can't buy hl2 anymore. What do you do? You can't play HL2 because steam is fully shut down without an emulator. You can't download hl2 because you were too late. The only solution is piracy. What the forget do you do in this situation if you want to buy it? Pirate it? Yes, because no one will make money from it. There is no net-loss from you downloading this because you owned the game in the place.

vacuums are physical objects

Listen, im not going to pay 900$ to play loving earthbound (Just an example). I would buy it but if the company offers no legal way of getting the game then i would use an emulator. Games are like books and contain history and nostalgia. Vacuums and cars aren't similar to books and they don't offer anything other than being obsolete. I understand emulating more modern games like the wiiu and wii are bad because you can still get those from the original seller and is offered a legal way of playing it by the company. So i would support the downloading of roms and emulators as long as if you had the game already or there is no legal way offered by the company that owns it.

You shouldn't have to pay a ludicrous amount of money just to play a classic game, the company doesn't even get the money.

If video game company's remove a rom they should have a legal way of playing it in the future.

we coud open up a black market for dealing out roms

Its irrelevant how difficult it is for you to find an old game. The moment Nintendo protects all its old games, no Nintendo product falls under "abandonware".
