Author Topic: Lego games started getting unoriginal around 2006  (Read 3997 times)

You start to notice a pattern after 2006 when all the lego games start becoming literal clones of lego starwars.

RIP lego

the original Lego star wars and Indiana Jones were great.

Everything after that was just repetitive blah.

I thought Lego Indiana Jones 2 and Lego Star Wars 3 were great. Lego Star Wars II is my least favorite out of the original three.

Indiana Jones 2 was awful, although the hub world's were ok.

But that's probably because it was based on a horrible movie.

I don't think lego will be making original AAA games anytime soon.

I wish they'd reboot Universe or Island, or even better a a Johnny Thunder game.

they already ruined lego island with lego isalnd 2 and 3.

I say leave it where it is unless they want an HD remaster of LI1.

what was wrong with 2? I seem to remember the ending was kinda weird and anticlimactic but iirc the gameplay was fun.

But yea maybe they don't need to revisit it although there's a few games I wouldn't mind seeing a remaster of.

There was a third?

Well for me lego island 2 clearly was just a soulless sequel cash grab.

It didn't have the same charm as lego island 1.

For example in Lego Island 2 the NPCs were just lifeless characters that either stand around, walk in a scripted fashion and they only talk when you press the space bar.

In Lego Island1 the NPCs had interesting things to say, they did interesting things.

The missions in LI1 were memorable. The mini-games also memorable.

The lego buildings most of them were unique.

Now graphics aren't important but it's kinda funny how the buildings, cars, trees, minifigures, etc have more detail in them than Lego Island 2.  You would figure a newer game like LI2 would have better graphics.

The game cover alone of Lego Island 2 looks like a fan made project.

The cover of Lego Island 2 alone tells you about the kind of quality that was put into the product.

They say you can't judge a book by it's cover but in this case, you can.

Lego Island 2 was developed by different people though, so they probably had different ideas in mind about how to make the game, thus it came out very differently compared to the first game

I need to finish lego island in blockland sometime.

This remake version is pretty cool I'm playing it now.

It has NPCs and other stuff now.

I was lead to believe there was only 2 Lego Island games.
