Red pill me: Why should youtube not be allowed to terminate whoever they want? They are literally giving that guy free hosting space to host and transcode his stuffty meme videos to millions of people, he's acting like its some sort of government entity that's oppressing him.
A. They've become too powerful, all alternatives are killed within a matter of months. No one can challenge them, not even twitch. In most situations this would be deemed a monopoly, and YouTube would be split up, but if they did that, one side would win out and the situation would just revert back to another monopoly. YouTube needs to be considered an appliance, free to charge whoever they want, however they can, within reason, without needing to face the constant nonsense of being harrassed by outside forces to discriminate against certain creators.
B. This isn't healthy, they are attempting to install their own set of approved YouTubers, and failing because no one cares about them. This year's YouTube rewind should be proof enough they are not only out of touch, but unwilling to learn or accept what the majority of people want. More than half of these people were unknown to the majority of people, and if they were known they were celebrities or outliers.
C. A lack of consistency with the rules and guidelines could make bigger content creators unwilling to continue on YouTube. Not much to say here, content creators may decide to move onto a different medium with different tactics if they believe YouTube has no future. We've seen this happen internally with animators in the past, egoraptor went from being an animator to a let's player. Twitch may be no YouTube, but YouTube is not known for their live streams.
mumkey jones was a shoddy youtube channel anyway
You've missed the point entirely.
