Is F2P at all viable for blockland?

Is blockland going F2P a option maybe?

I understand badspot still wants to make money off the game but he could sell decals and hats for money like what roblox does.

I realize the F2P market is cancer though but maybe it could work out for blockland if done right.

If it was F2P then Badspot would have to do quite a bit of work(which is unlikely). He also couldn't really sell things for the game without highly restricting modding or remove it altogether. Plus then it'd be hard to ban people from your server. They'd just make a new account if they wanted. Or if it was IP banning, they'd just change their IP.

It's already hard to ban people from your server.

Bolster has like 50 ALTS and he keeps coming in here with different names and different IPs.

So I'm not really worried about that, that stuff happens anyways.

No. Just no. Well it COULD go f2p for maybe a week then go back to the normal 10 bucks.

But at least he loses money for doing it. Instead of being able to do it for free.

didnt badspot say that the only reason blockland is still up was to get the extra money?

He can make extra money off selling decals and faces.

Prints can be downloaded server sided so everyone will be able to see your custom prints.

But custom decals and faces cannot be downloaded server sided so no one will be able to see them unless they too also manually downloaded them.

So it would make sense for badspot to add official faces/decal packs that can only be unlocked for money and everyone can see them because they are in the vanilla game.

we gonna repeat that pay-for-skyrim-mods fiasco again?

the game honestly should just have a lowered price, like $2.50 on steam like what it goes for on sale usually would honestly be a reasonable price.

Payed mods would be the fastest way to disband the game and whats left of it's community.

Any kind of microtransaction system would be essentially completely contrary to Badspot's ideology regarding video games. He did mention in-game late last year that if at some point blockland sales hit effectively zero, he wouldn't see any reason not to make the game free, but this also indicates that the game still makes some amount of consistent sales.

It's just decals, they don't show up server sided anyways

He'd have to remove custom faces, decals, and prints then. Otherwise, people would just rip them for free.

Uh no.

Because custom faces and decals don't show up server side and you can't download them like prints/textures right off the server/

So if someone rips them it's not like anyone would see them, they would just see the default smiley face

No one would pay for faces or decals since they can make their own, and just share them around so that others can see them

A better idea for paid content would be additional player items, like how there was gonna be the hats system
