is this supposed to be proof that vaccines don’t work? if anything its just proof that media doesnt always take the time to get actual live photos every time the news comes out, probably cause they cant due to medical privacy and safety reasons

yes...this is quite literally how stock images are supposed to be used.

OP would be too stupid to recognize a baby with measles if he saw it, same with the rest of NBC's viewer-base. Naturally they're going to create visuals from stock images so you get the gist of it. Whose job is it to walk their ass down to a local hospital to take a stuffty picture of someone else's sick (probably quarantined) baby lol?

Both those links gave me an incredible dosage of second hand embarrassment. You can tell the guy's handicapped just by the way he speaks, never mind the actual content of his video

nah, the only person sick here will be your unvaccinated child

holy stuff that video is cringe.

Imagine talking about fake news outlets on a lego forum

on the other hand, I do have to defend that photoshopping images like that to make a point is deceitful and immoral.

It doesn't, however, make the news false. However, Anti-vaxxers are not the only ones contributing to this outbreak.

No but it's proof that NBC is no better than CNN (or a lot of the mainstream news) when it comes to fear mongering....furthermore why would the image they use show a doctor holding a baby with measles with their bare hands? No medical professional would do that....

These people use scare tactics and stock footage to convince the masses

I agree it is quite deceitful to use images like that (they even went the extra mile and added a blurry hospital scene in the background) for a supposedly REAL news story

While it may be a stretch to say that around 500 people being infected is an outbreak, there is an argument to be made that since measles had been nearly eliminated for several years that this is an outbreak compared to the usual.

Of course, but now it's even more deadly than before, right? Back in the day measles were much more common, and only around 1-2 cases out of 1000's actually died from the illness. I feel like the video that NBC put out is fear mongering at best, not informative at all, especially using deceitful photoshopped pictures to convey their message. To see this on TV as actual informative programming is upsetting, to say the least.

See, people like you think they know everything when they don't, which is sad but it can't always be helped. For future reference, my daughter had the MMR vaccine when she was born. Please don't make an ass of us by assuming

That's pricey bro, you could go to the DG and get a whole roll for like a buck....it's not the good name brand stuff tho

they use stock photos like every news outlet does because taking photos of actual victims with measles without their consent is illegal. anyways people should be scared of measles, especially people with weak immune systems such as unvaccinated people, children and the elderly. in areas where vaccines aren't easily available, measles kills like 800 people a year

you basically have the luxury of living in a country where 99% of people are vaccinated for measles and therefore it cannot spread as easily as say, sub-Saharan Africa. you should really count your blessings rather than cut at news articles for stating common sense, because without them raising awareness on the dangers of viral infections you'd be living in a country with a really high infant mortality rate. your daughter got the MMR vaccine but if she didn't and you took her on a 2 week trip to Niger or Mali she'd certainly get measles. And even if she didn't go there, anyone you know could've come in contact with someone that did and easily pass it to her without showing any visible symptoms. It's that dangerous

The human body carries like thousands of strains of harmful bacteria and viruses that are constantly being suppressed by the immune system and they'll show no visible sign of infection. Someone who has never come in contact with these infectious agents before will immediately become infected and possibly die if they go untreated. So selectively opting out of vaccines is only going to put yourself at risk; everyone else can handle it because our immune systems know how to defend against it

You got me there dude! Mainstream news does suck. This isn't the first time NBC has done this. But you're not intelligent for pointing this out, and the kid still contracted measles.

Fear mongering is effective and useful in this scenario. You can give these people hard, repeatable scientific proof and they will deny it because they are handicapped and shovel fish for a living. The only way to get through to them is to use their own stuffty underhanded tactics against them.

Speaking about fear mongering, did you watch the video you posted lmfao?

Like, damn dude
