I have always been somewhat frightened of powerlines. They are quite beautiful though, and my favorite example of their abstract sense of power is seen in the stellar anime series Serial Experiments Lain. This is a sample of the powerline noise from the show extended to quite a long length so that it can be played mildly in the background and mixed with other noises. Great for pretending you are in the wired.
