Makes absolutely no sense.

So first of all Andy's dad won woody in a contest as a kid.

Then andy's dad passed on woody to his son before he died.

Not to mention woody is worth a fortune since he's so unbelievably rare.

So after knowing all this why would andy give away woody when it was an heirloom given to him by his father who died?

because disney is a little bad a story writing

pixar writing at its finest

I understand why he gave away the other toys including buzz.

But not only is woody worth a fortune but also a family heirloom so it makes zero sense.

He just gives it to some kid whos gonna loving destroy it anyways

I mean in the film he didn't act like it was an easy choice, he was hesitant. Probably part of moving on or something, themes and all that.

Because more movies.
How do you justify the fourth movie about sentient toys with a dude in college?

I know plenty of kids in college that still have toys

Yes and sadly thats not as marketable as having a new kid.
Although I'm sure you knew this. What's your point?

He was originally going to take woody with him to college earlier in the movie

if andy took woody, he'd be shelved...

So  have andy get his own kid.

Or is the idea of love not marketable?
