can you cure it?
for now, no. theres not even a vaccine but iirc some health organization was developing one

imo this is being blown out of proportion

Black plague 2: Beijing Drag

imo this is being blown out of proportion
its because of the coincidence that for the last few centuries there was a pandemic during the 20th year

Not really considering that the mortality rate is currently hovering around 50% and plus most infections arent being reported.

isn't the coronavirus usually non-fatal if treated? afaik they don't have enough beds for patients with how widespread it is, and the panic caused by China trying to censor how severe the outbreak is certainly adds to the panic.

Eat your bat soup and trust the Chinese government, goy

Given the knowledge that its closely related to the SARS family tree of viruses, this isnt your average coronavirus to begin with.

(and by 21 January a total of 11,341 people (prediction interval, 9,217-14,245) had been infected in Wuhan since the start of the year. ) - this was 4 days ago, which makes it much worse given its nearly the 25th.

good, the earth was due for another plague

yeah this really concerns me.

i think the main issue is that it spreads really quickly/easily - with this panic and mass media news reporting, people will take it seriously and go to the hospital if they get the symptoms, helping prevent mass infection before it happens. its really infectious
Quote from: Wikipedia
Basic reproduction number for the human-to-human transmission of the virus was estimated as between 2 and 4. The number describes to how many people a newly infected person is likely to pass the virus in human population. The new coronavirus has been reportedly able to transmit down a chain of up to four people so far.

that said, i think its unlikely many will die in the states from it - see ebola outbreak death rate in usa/developed countries vs african countries. with the medical care facilities here, the symptoms can likely be treated effectively enough to reduce the chance of death if one catches it.

its that time of year when the hypochondriacs become really annoying and people are told to stay home from school if they have certain symptoms
