Link pls

there is a relatively large back story to this, particularly with me going back and forth with one of the original audio engineers of the 5000 Sounds CD.
it will deserve its own thread and a proper write up.

but here is the software itself, immortalized on archive.org in all its glory: https://archive.org/details/beat-2000

you will want the executable named b2_107a.exe under the 1.07 folder, it will run perfectly fine on Windows 10.

once you have installed and run the program, you can click the FILES button to load different sample packs.
the ones that will interest the community the most are:

Techno/TN5_120.B2 (Stress)
Rock/RK2_120.B2 (Bass, Rock)
Pop/PP1_100.B2 (After School Special)

and it sounds INCREDIBLE
well it sounds the exact same except we have all the instrument tracks separated now

trying to save tracks from beat 2000 pretends the file exists in the program but the files are just. not there??

well it sounds the exact same except we have all the instrument tracks separated now

In the case of stress and rock/bass 2 theres actually instruments we didn’t hear before because it turns out they’re only 1 sample from the whole thing

This is such a satisfying discovery.

A few sounds under MUSIC/NOTES/SYNTH2/ (especially SYN21003.wav) seem to be the samples used for Peaceful but in reverse... very sneaky.

So is this where the sound origin saga ends, or will we continue tracking down every known trace of audio used in this game?
