Personally, If I'm feeling ill I'd like to show symptoms to actually know I'm sick so that I can stay home and recuperate and not have to second guess "am i sick today? I don't know, I feel just fine....my temp seems okay but maybe I'm sick and just don't know it"? yeah that sounds like it would suck

Also, masks and vaccines aren't umbrellas, masks primarily prevent you from spreading the virus, which is why you not having one on in public spaces is bad.
