Author Topic: Anyone have good outdoor knife recomendations  (Read 488 times)

I'm finishing up ordering my hiking/backpacking/camping gear and I have yet to find a good knife at a reasonable price, but I also don't really know what to look for minus a thicker handle. Anyone have any suggestions? Would rather have a flip-open knife, but a fixed one can work too. Also if anyone has a good heavy duty EDC/industrial work knife suggestion I could also use that.

Mora makes some of the best all purpose kniv.. er knifes, I can't find the exact model I have on the site but it's just basically an older version of one of the construction models.

Edit: I found the one I have although it's still an older model but still practically identical - https://morakniv.se/en/product/companion-s/

Also the Finnish brand Marttiini is well known as a quality knife, I was lucky to get one of their "seconds" (it has an insignificant blemish in the lacquer on the handle) for a discount in Helsinki iirc, and like Mora they take a razor edge very well.

I really can't recommend these two brands enough they're my two favorite knifes I own, if I had to pick one just for pure utility I might say Mora because it's very ergonomic and the plastic handle makes it ideal for cleaning fish or skinning and gutting because of the ease of cleaning, but it would be a hard pick.
