yall better mod the forget outta blockland

Blockland was a good game in it's prime. No mod is going to bring back a different era of the internet.

People used to love.the freedom of hosting their own server, the novelty of having niche communities.
But now people prefer the modern casinos that are the microtransaction riddled Triple A titles of today.

Humans are predictable creatures, put bright colors on a price tag stick and they'll run straight for it.

lmao mods do that all the time. only thing different is alot of blocklands talent is moving on.

I know of mods keeping a game from going under, but not bringing it back to life.

Without mods, Minecraft would've probably gone under during 1.8.

545 days without an update for a game like Minecraft.

If minecraft had died out, no mod would've revived the playerbase. You'd see a slight resurgence, but the peak of that time would be gone.

I see what you mean but if not for it's mod-ability / expand-ability minecraft would not be what it is today and thats a fact. I ran a 24/7 1.5.2 server for years and the mods are what KEPT IT GOING for as long as it did because of how sophisticated and awesome it was - the only reason it's been going as long as it has with simple stupid updates is because a larger company bought it and invested money into it - you have to know that. They have the money to ADVERTISE and thats what really counts

this too, but the main reason BL has no players isn't because it's a stuff game, it's because the only people who really know about it anymore are the ones who played it back in the "good ol" days. I think those of us remaining as a community should invest in an ad for the game if we really care. I do. Im willing to throw down at least $100 is anyone with me??!

I highly doubt Minecraft; the most purchased game in the world survived only due to modding. Especially as 2014 was past the absolute peak of popularity already. Pretty sure millions of copies had already been sold at that point.

I think what was previously mentioned about Minecraft to be true, had the educational potential had not been realised.

Where Blockland and Minecraft differ was through their community; one had a dedicated team of moderators that would tackle the bad stuff, and the other just had three, one was pretty power hungry and a textbook national socialist-mod - eventually getting the sack, one was very polite but still doesn't really do enough, and one did all of the work but only comes around to sweep up the rubbish every so often but significantly less than he should. It would be better to sell a product with a good community than have another with a really bad community. Imagine the negative press Blockland would get if it went down the same path as Minecraft and got picked up for the potential it had.

It has nothing to do with badspot or the community IMO. I feel like Minecraft is a video game where as Blockland is more like a piece of creativity software similar to stuff like Photoshop.

On top of that Minecraft is like playing with duplo blocks whereas Blockland makes you literally do math to make a wall not look like stuff. Low skill building in minecraft all looks 'Alright' because everything looks like stuff. It's weird to call a creative game easy but Minecraft is absolutely easier than Blockland.

the phrase you’re looking for is that its easier to have fun *playing* minecraft than it is playing blockland. blockland is a true sandbox (you have to figure out what to do) while survival minecraft is a quasi sandbox with survival mechanics (you have to survive, but get to figure out how exactly you want to)

more people have bought the game on console/mobile (non moddable) than pc (moddable)

Bedrock edition isn't as moddable, but it is moddable.

Console editions are a bit more strict. But Android and Windows 10 both run mods.

Eitherway that's not the point, as people certainly didn't have Bedrock edition in the 1.8 era. That was before the 'Better Together' update for pocket edition.

Blockland has a survival mode too. We've all been playing it for a decade now.

lmao

makes a point though, blockland might not be as dead as it is if it had mobile/console ports. Yes, i understand torque engine limits things but a points a point.

if i could mod my way out of my rent payments, i would. sadly my landlady doesn't accept, in her words, 'totally sick gun models' as legal tender
