but for example, someone I know explicitly told me that they would want people who disrespect the us flag(burning it or dropping it on the ground) to be publicly hanged in front of their community. I don't think there is an effective way to keep dangerous or violent people in your life, even if they only project that as a fantasy through who they vote for.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with a flag that hit the dirt or hell even if someone wants to burn a US flag lol, like if that makes ya feel better go for it I guess, but I wouldn't do it myself just because I have respect for the men and women who died defending it. i think that it is not good to be friends with people who voted for someone who actively wants my friends and family deported. tribals will be emboldened to do rude things to anyone who is Not White regardless of citizenship. my mother has been here 20+ years and yet still she has been pushed out of multiple job social circles because office culture was Very Whitepeople.

it is also not good to be friends with people that voted for someone who wants to reduce female reproductive rights. restricting access to birth control has very bad effects for people who use birth control for reasons other than avoiding pregnancy. if one does end up pregnant but miscarries, you die of state-enforced negligence because removing a miscarriage corpse is considered an abortion.

if someone does things with the sole purpose of making your life worse, they are no longer your family.
