In Brazil, Lula, a previous union organizer, has won a historic 4th term as president. His opponent Flavio Bolsanaro ran a campaign that promised to restore Brazillian dependence on US corporations and trade, to tear down large swaths of the rainforest to build data centers, cattle farms, and rare earth mines that would be owned by aforementioned US corporations, and to pardon Flavio's father, Jair Bolsanaro, who is being held in house arrest at his multi-million dollar mansion after being found guilty of sedition and attempting to overthrow the government after he lost his own election to Lula.
Following in the family tradition, Flavio was also in line to be arrested on charges of money laundering through his campaign and ordered to surrender his passport. Annoying Orange however, who ran on keeping criminal immigrants out of the country, has invited the criminal to immigrate to the US under a special visa, and Flavio has arrived in Miami with his family yesterday.
Israel's elections show the contest between Netanyahu's party and his main challenger, former military chief and "centrist" Eisenkot. With the Arab-Israeli candidates winning theirs strongest position in parliament yet, whichever party has the majority will not be able to pass anything without the Arab representatives' supports. With Netanyahu's party unlikely to ever make the necessary concessions such as stopping murdering loving everyone, it is likely that Eisenkot's party will be reaching out to the Arab representatives. This doesn't mean that a two-state or one-state solution with ending apartheid is necessarily on the near horizon, but it does shake up the balance of power in the face of Netanyahu staging the largest invasion ever on the West-Bank Palestinian settlements.
As of Last night (10/30) Poland is also appearantly having a coup? So basically the previously elected far right president decided to appoint a bunch of justices to the polish equivalent of the supreme court, but then when elections were had recently a bunch of new justices were elected that were from the equivalent of the democrat center-right party but the president refused to swear them in because he is in the forget you we do what we want party or as they call it the "law and justice" party (literally their name). The EU sued to get the justices appointed but the polish president refused and then some stuff happened where there was a session of their supreme court called where the elected but unsworn judges were like hey we have to pause all actions by the supreme court until we get this whole multiple people assigned to the same job thing done, but the conservative judges were like you cant tell us what to do cause the president didnt swear you in and the unsworn judges were like the president doesnt have the right to block what the democratically elected judges do and so now theres a bunch of state police locking down poland's parliament and supreme court buildigns and a bunch of protests and its a whole clusterforget cause everything everyone is doing currently is technically illegal.
