I think I should be able to make a decision in early january
my most recent appointment did not have precisely the outcome I'd hoped for, so I haven't made a final decision yet. but if, at my next appointment in early feb, i am granted weight-bearing privileges, or at least a very clear idea of when I may get them, then I'll be able to make a decision. if not, then I probably won't find out more until early march, which is probably too late for me to make these kinds of decisions. so that's my plan. if I have a clear timeline after the next appointment, and it allows for it, i go. in any other case, i dont go
whoa what happened?
I feel kind of bad about my aloof response before but basically i was on my e-bike and i Fell and my leg ended up in just the right (wrong) position to get broke. the tibia had one big fat break in it and the tibia was broken into a few small pieces. it hurt real bad and I went to the ER and they put me in a hospital room overnight and then did surgery on a cat the next morning to add some metal rods to my bones. I was fortunate that the surgery itself went well and that the injury didn't directly affect my joints. the tibia rod required them to enter above my kneecap so I had a big incision there and several smaller ones scattered around the leg. the big one is for sure gonna scar, and the small ones will probably leave little marks, but they'll be a lot less noticeable. I'm gonna add the big one as a marking on my fursona but I'm still thinking about whether to add anything for the little incisions lol
here's pre- and post-op x-rays: https://i.imgur.com/9dTUECr.png

I'm also very fortunate to have really good insurance. so far it's only been about $500 out of pocket for me, there may or may not be a few more charges missing at the moment but I don't think any of them will be significant. thank you, fancy tech job

It's likely I will be able to make it on Saturday, but not guaranteed yet.

I'm trying to see if I can't get the entire week off to go see New York then come up to Boston for all of PAX.

I've locked in a Saturday ticket just now--good point; though, we should probably get a list together of people going and make a decision on when/where to meet at the day of the event.

If a lot of people are taking the train/commuter rail in, it might make sense to meet at South Station rather than the convention center.
and anotha one

im also gonna be taking the amtrak from new york but i arrive late fri so ill be leaving from my airbnb in the morning.

we could get a discord (or something else) groupchat going once the date gets closer.

jeeeeeeeeeeeeesus christ that fracture is crazy. rest up and i hope it heals well

that sounds fun. too bad im literally on the complete opposite coast side of the country. tickets would probably be pricey. what would u guys be doin when u meet up? eat at a delicious resteraunt? a blockland LAN party maybe?

probably walking around the convention floor and learning about each others bodie- i mean enjoying each others company.

My saturday ticket is confirmed. I have a hotel booked in the city as well. Also a new battery for the Ford so hopefully it lives that long.

I reserved my saturday badge

This will be all new experiences for me, but i really want to go through with this, see everyone in person, and hopefully have a good time during the convention and a safe trip getting there and back

still outta the loop with the whole thing, but like by "convention" do u mean some kinda furrycon/animecon, or do u mean like some house and it's the "blockhead convention"?

op updated with more ppl that got tickets. i can put together a group chat when it gets closer since we're still over 2 months away and they haven't announced any of the expo stuff yet

pax east is a gaming convention, it takes place in a big building and they have a whole floor where devs and studios set up booths to show off games that they're working on. there's also panels and other stuff - it's like one of those cons but it's specifically game-focused. the idea is that we meet up there in person and hang out for a while
as a fun fact badspot and rotondo used to go there several years ago. there's a couple threads over in the development board

If we see badspot at the function we have to bully him

i have bad news the seattle link crosslake extension is opening on march 28 and there's various reasons that that's important to me so i will not be at pax east unless that gets delayed which I don't want to happen. i hope you all have fun though
