Kind of simple probably soon to be dead topic but, ya'll like water? I blame dwarf fort for my mild interest into this and also my parents interest in dowsing.

I think dowsing is totally loving bullstuff and apparently my mom is about to take a class on it. So what do you guys think? Do you think holding a stick leads you to water or do you have any other fun facts to share about water tables?

dowsing "works" cause nearly everywhere has water if you dig deep enough. its definitely a scam.

dwarf fortress heavy aquifers are a !!FUN!! time

how much is the class. if it's over $100 she's bonkos

I'm pretty certain dowsing works based on the fact it gives confidence to keep digging.

Good question I should ask that

Okay but why is your mom going to take a class on Dowsing? Is she gonna trek into the desert or something?

My parents are crystal people if that explains it enough, Love em but man it gets awkward when magical stuff comes up.

This all stemmed from hearing a story from my mother about my brothers well which apparently was running dry (We were having a drought this year) but it turns out my brothers well is like loving 15 feet deep, aka like 4 feet deeper than the basement. When I brought this up and the fact the average well depth in our state is 250ft. My parents both claimed that it might be better to have a well that's shallow as it protects against stuff like radon which might be true? But from my short "research" it means you're exposed to surface contaminants.

Dowsing may or may not be real but paying money for a class in dowsing is most certainly a scam. Any valuable information on the topic is probably on Reddit and Wikipedia for free

I'm willing to believe in some crystal stuff because the Placebo effect is real and powerful and if you believe hard enough that this rock is easing your menstrual pain, it does kind of work in that way. Dowsing strikes me as mystical bullstuff misappropriated from something native Americans used to do

It is, hydrology is the science of water movement, you learn dowsing when you really hate reading a book
