Bringing back Kaphost dedicated server hosting to Blockland was not on my 2026 bingo card… but here we are.

Over the past few months, I found myself getting back into Blockland and wanted to run a server again. I started by renting a VPS — which quickly turned out to be expensive (over $30) for such a small VPS with only 5GB of RAM. While searching for better options, I came across a great deal on a dedicated server from Servers4You — the same provider that Kaphost used back in the day — hosted in St. Louis. The machine I ended up with is massively overpowered for a single Blockland server, packing 32GB of DDR4 RAM.

After reconnecting with several longtime players and hearing that some of them were considering hosting again, the idea clicked:

Why not turn this into an easy, affordable hosting service for the community?

Thanks to Eagle517 — without him, I never would have had the idea or the means to do it. He's the one that showed me the pelican.dev web interface and helped me setup and troubleshoot issues when I was originally setting this up.

Honestly, I don't know if this will amount to anything with the state of Blockland today. All I know is I truly miss this game, the community, and just the genuine vibe. This is still my favorite game to date, and my hope is this will result in some more people hosting and trying to bring people back.

Always great to see more tools being given and used in the community. This will surely help anyone considering starting gamemode dev. Only thing I would recommend/ask is ensuring you have some sort of DDoS prevention package. Still some occasional bad actors in the community. Regardless, this is awesome!

Just an FYI, server went down last night around 7PM-5AM. It was not a DDoS (had like 8 people reaching out to me thinking this). This was a mistake on the billing department of the provider I use, apparently someone mistakenly flagged my server as having an unpaid bill. Luckily it was immediately restored once I reached out to them.

If anyone remembers the RTBHosting days, this will look very familiar to you. All servers will now come with a web based Administration Panel you can log into.

Server Chat:
Monitor chat even while you are not connected. You can send messages, kick, ban, and get more info about a player as well. Name in web channel can be changed in Settings.





Admin Logs:
View server logs. Bans/Chat/Connections/Status/Unbans/Audit (shows full history of web panel logins/actions)



Server Preferences
Manage your preferences right from the webpanel. Including mod preferences.



Add-On Manager
Easily Enable or Disable mods on your server.



Load Bricks
Unfinished at the moment. But it'll allow you to upload your save file to the server so you can quickly load builds compared to long wait times of doing it in game.
Mobile
