IMO the film started out REALLY strong with the found footage of the yellow-suit guy, and hit its peak when Clark and his two employees were exploring together, and Bobby got pulled in by the mystery-monster.Then the movie shifts its focus heavily to Clark's descent into madness, which I didn't really care about tbh? It felt like the actual backrooms itself became merely a stage for Clark's character, rather than the main focus, if that makes sense. Plus, his spiral seemed kind of rushed off-screen. He went from a guy getting angry in his therapist's office (which she admitted was a normal reaction) to a guy keeping the severed head of an employee in his fridge. It was a big leap in character that needed more in-between to show the transition IMO.But even then, I just didn't really care about his character that much, I just wanted more focus on the actual backrooms itself. I watched some of Kane's youtube videos beforehand, and they were extremely interesting to me. They showed a lot more to the backrooms (like the other entity that look like they're made of black tendrils, the green energy, the mold, etc). I wish the movie explored those things more. Even if it left the characters with more questions than answers, I would have enjoyed that more personally. Finally, the monsters all seemed scary at first, but when the big bad was revealed to just be the tall pirate guy, it instantly felt less scary and honestly kind of silly to me. I understand why he looked that way, it made sense, but it just wasn't scary.
