TL;DR Google's earnings this year rose by 25% but their expenditures increased so much that it actually resulted in a 25% drop in company value.
This is caused by their pushing AI on all their users, and that google ai search prompt that appears at the top of every search costs them a lot to operate, and additionally stops people from actually visiting the websites that the AI is scraping from, meaning that they are also earning less money from the ad revenue that they would earn on those sites they are causing people to stop visiting.

the dooble Os in google messed me up there

yeah it's pretty loving annoying when I want to search for something and get viable info / real search results only to get some dumbass ai generated response. there legit needs to be a toggle option to turn it off completely. it can be useful sometimes but I still want the option to disable it.

edit: nevermind guess im stupid because they put a "verbatim" tag in tools section. why the forget is it there of all places, and why is it called something 90% of people don't know the meaning of. just have a toggle "use ai" holy forget
